Bourque Lifts Pelicans to 8-4 Win
St. Petersburg and West Virginia took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

The St. Petersburg Pelicans beat the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws, 8-4, at Penlee Park. St. Petersburg catcher Matt Bourque earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Juan Duran was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 5 save opportunities.

Bourque had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the seventh inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Pelicans went on to win.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Bourque.

Even with the win, the Pelicans have a dismal 42-82 record.
