Panthers Fall Short, 5-4, at Chippewa
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs and Charleston Panthers obliged those fans who came to The Reservation looking for a good time.
Despite a great performance by Charleston third baseman Rob Tyra, the Chippewa River Chiefs defeated the Panthers by the score of 5-4 at The Reservation. Tyra went 2 for 4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Troy Lamb was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities.
The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from shortstop Adrián Ferreira. For the game, Ferreira went 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 87th hit of the season gave Chippewa a 3-1 lead.
"We've got a great group of guys," Ferreira said, "and we're having fun right now."
Chippewa is now 79-42, 12˝ games up in the Lyman Bostock League Dick Williams Division.
