Road Warriors Win at Bethesda, 9-3
|
The Westside Road Warriors knocked off the Bethesda Hornets, 9-3, at Hornets Field. Tony Maciel, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Westside won. The left fielder was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Javier Figueroa picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 6-7. Yonetoshi Morikawa notched his 5th save in 7 chances.
Westside used the timely hitting of Mal McClinton to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Road Warriors on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," McClinton told the Westside Chronicle.
The Road Warriors bumped their record to 67-53 with this latest triumph.
