Beavers Rally For Late Win Over Texans
|
The Portland Beavers electrified Waterfront Park with a thrilling, walk-off win.
With catcher Ralph Blair leading the charge, the Portland Beavers defeated the Dallas Texans, 5-4, at Waterfront Park. Blair, who is tied for 2nd in the RCL with a .338 batting average, went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The Beavers bumped their record to 32-30 with this latest triumph.
Blair had a game-changing single in the bottom of the ninth. On a 2-2 fastball from Adrien Clément, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Beavers a 5-4 lead. It was the 67th hit of the year for Blair.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Portland manager John Harrison.
