Extra-Inning Win by Jedi Knights over Gnats
|
The New Orleans Jedi Knights knocked off the Nichols Gnats, 9-6, at The Pond. Tommy Buford, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason New Orleans won. The right fielder went 3 for 5 with 3 doubles and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Reliever Lorenzo Ortega picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Ezra Bryan took the loss. Sean Cassetty notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.
David Perez aided the New Orleans cause with a 2-run single in the top of the 11th. For the game, the second baseman went 2-6 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Perez told the New Orleans Daily News.
The Jedi Knights bumped their record to 69-53 with this latest triumph.
