Sting Roll Over Emeralds, 9-4
|
It was a good time at Woodland Park, where fans came to watch the Eugene Emeralds and Houston Sting get after it.
The Houston Sting topped the Eugene Emeralds, 9-4, with third baseman Benny Lipke playing a big role. Lipke was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Sting in the win. The Sting bumped their record to 66-55 with this latest triumph.
Lipke had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the bottom of the first inning, when he hit a 2-run triple. The Sting went on to win.
"We played hard and won," said Lipke. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
