Warriors Slip Past New Orleans, 3-2
|
The Warriors had to overcome a good performance from New Orleans pitcher Arturo Corona to claim a 3-2 win at The Barn. Corona went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Winfield bumps their record to 55-65 with the win.
Had Bobby Douberly not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Douberly hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Warriors.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said New Orleans manager Phillip Smith.
