The San Angelo Mustangs beat the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 7-3, at The Republic. The Mustangs got a fine performance from right fielder Jake Sandlin, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. San Angelo reliever Hiroki Saito picked up the win to move to 1-0. George McCurry suffered the loss. San Angelo has now won 4 games in a row.

Kyle Higgins's at-bat in the top of the eighth inning was a big one for San Angelo. Coming to bat with two out, runners on 2nd and 3rd and San Angelo leading 4-3, the catcher hit a 2-run single.
