Panthers Prevail, 7-5, Over St. Paul
|
The Charleston Panthers knocked off the St. Paul Saints, 7-5, at Franklin Mountains Field. Ryosaku Nishimura, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Charleston won. The first baseman went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Charleston reliever Ryan Hamblin was the winner. His record is now 5-6. Blake Connell took the loss. The Saints, at 55-62, have lost 4 in a row.
The Panthers got a big at-bat from catcher Jeff Henson. For the game, Henson went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 79th hit of the season gave Charleston a 6-5 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Nishimura.
