River Chiefs Get Close Win Over Knights
Despite a great performance by Kingwood center fielder Rickey Moses, the Chippewa River Chiefs defeated the Knights by the score of 7-6 at Stable Park. Moses went 3-3 with a triple, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Chippewa reliever Pang Yip picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-4. Dylan Thompkins was collared with the loss. The first-place River Chiefs, at 75-40, now lead their division by 9˝ games.

The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Willie Lorenzo. For the game, Lorenzo was 1-1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Chippewa a 7-5 lead.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Chippewa manager Eric Rice.
