Late Rally by Emeralds Secures Win
|
Eugene right fielder Wil Cruz made his presence felt in the 3-2 Emeralds triumph over the St. Petersburg Pelicans. Cruz went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tatsuji Kudo converted his 15th save in 20 tries. The Emeralds, at 59-52, have now won 4 straight.
Cruz had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch changeup from Kelly Livingston, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Emeralds a 3-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Cruz.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Cruz.
