Sting Score Late, Top Bush Wackers, 5-4
|
The Houston Sting downed the Brisbane Bush Wackers, 5-4, at Woodland Park. The Sting were led by Logan Schoen, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. Dave Street, credited with the win, is now 5-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Sam Thomas, credited with the save, is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities.
Had James Vance not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Vance hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Sting.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Schoen.
The Sting bumped their record to 59-51 with this latest triumph.
