St. Petersburg second baseman Kennie Moody was sensational. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Eugene beat the Pelicans, 9-8. Moody was named the player of the game despite the loss. Danny Horn got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The Emeralds bumped their record to 57-52 with this latest triumph.

Ángel Sánchez drew 1 walk in 2 plate appearances for Eugene. The 23-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 8-8 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Julio Uribe. It was his 31st RBI of the season.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Sánchez. "And not try to do too much."
