Cyclones Sneak Past Jedi Knights, 3-2
|
The Coney Island Cyclones overcame a good performance by New Orleans first baseman José Pérez to knock off New Orleans, 3-2, at Coney Island Coliseum. Pérez was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Coney Island reliever Dave Dyke picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. José Martínez took the loss. Coney Island has now won 7 in a row.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from designated hitter Mario Marroquín. For the game, Marroquín was 1 for 4 with a walk. In the bottom of the 11th, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 34th hit of the season gave Coney Island a 3-2 lead.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Roger Fievet, the Coney Island manager.
