Knights left fielder John Carruthers put his stamp on his team's 6-5 win over the New Orleans Jedi Knights. Carruthers went 2-3 with 2 singles and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs for Kingwood in the contest. Dylan Thompkins earned his 16th save in 19 chances. The 5th-place Knights improved to 51-53.
With Kingwood leading 5-4 in the top of the ninth, Carruthers hit a curveball from José Martínez for a run-scoring single. It was his 68th hit of the season and put the Knights ahead, 6-4.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Kingwood manager Herb Good.
