The Hornets had to overcome a fine effort from Chippewa pitcher Lorenzo Chavez to grab a narrow 4-2 win at Hornets Field. Chavez went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The win was credited to Yuujin McCool in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Pang Yip took the loss. Franck Guillaume got the save, his 5th in 5 chances.
Bethesda took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, third baseman Waqar Kharoti hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Kharoti said.
Bethesda goes to 49-55, Chippewa to 66-35.
