Emeralds Take Nail-Biter Over Lake Monsters
|
The Eugene Emeralds topped the Okanagan Lake Monsters, 7-3, with shortstop Jose Macias playing a big role. Macias went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Emeralds in the win. The winner was Tatsuji Kudo in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Dusty Mast took the loss. Eugene is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Eugene won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With two outs and Jesús Velásquez on the mound for Okanagan, designated hitter Ángel Sánchez hit a dramatic grand slam home run, bringing Emeralds fans to their feet.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Macias told the Eugene Observer.
