Vikings Get One-Run Win at St. Petersburg
|
The St. Petersburg Pelicans got a superb performance from center fielder Juan Mendez, but the Victoria Vikings still won the game, 4-3. Mendez was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Dave O'Donohue, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 2-8. Victoria now has a 3-game win streak.
José López aided the Victoria cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the third. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," López said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
