River Chiefs Win at Bethesda, 4-1
|
Chippewa and Bethesda duked it out at Hornets Field and the River Chiefs came out victorious.
The River Chiefs faced a stiff challenge from Bethesda pitcher Javier Rodríguez, but persevered to claim a win at Hornets Field. The final score was 4-1. Rodríguez went 5 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. Chippewa reliever Marvin Duffy picked up the win, upping his record to 8-2. Javier Rodríguez absorbed the loss.
The River Chiefs got a big at-bat from center fielder Marshall Clark. For the game, Clark went 1-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season gave Chippewa a 2-0 lead.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Clark.
The first-place River Chiefs, at 66-33, now lead their division by 11 games.
