Vikings Sneak Past Road Warriors, 3-2

The Victoria Vikings did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Westside Road Warriors at The drakkar. Nobody did more than pitcher Shane Jacobs, who captured player of the game honors. Victoria reliever Steve King was the winner. His record is now 1-2. Rick Childress took the loss. Jean-François Blot was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 10 save opportunities.
Had Reggie Volkmann not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Volkmann hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Vikings.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Jacobs said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Vikings raised their record to 41-59.
