Bloodhounds Edge Jedi Knights, 3-2
|
The Boise Bloodhounds took New Orleans pitcher Arturo Corona's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Grand Canyon Valley Park. The final score had Boise getting past the Jedi Knights, 3-2. Corona went 5 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 9. Jason Loer got credit for the win, improving to 8-7. He allowed 2 runs on 9 hits in 7 innings. Today's win puts Boise at 34-62, while New Orleans falls to 59-37.
The Bloodhounds got a big at-bat from catcher Elijah Thweatt. For the game, Thweatt was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Boise a 3-2 lead.
In postgame comments to the Boise Bulletin, Thweatt said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
