Emeralds Win at Bethesda, 4-2
|
The Eugene Emeralds got a stellar performance from pitcher Franklin Cadonau, who handcuffed the Bethesda offense en route to a 4-2 win at Hornets Field. Cadonau got the win, improving to 4-5. He allowed 8 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Cadonau allowed 2 earned runs. Tatsuji Kudo got the save, his 12th in 15 chances.
Hugo Mendoza was 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI for Eugene. The 22-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Eric Sauer. It was his 4th walk of the season.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Bethesda manager Francisco Solano. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
Eugene is now riding a 3-game win streak.
