Road Warriors Stymie Houston, Take 4-1 Win
|
Westside and Houston duked it out at Woodland Park and the Road Warriors came out victorious.
The Westside Road Warriors racked up a win at Woodland Park, bumping off the Houston Sting, 4-1. Eddie Cory, who started for Westside, pitched effectively for his team. Cory, now 7-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Jesse Corson earned his 9th save in 9 chances.
The Road Warriors got a big at-bat from third baseman Ricardo Garza. For the game, Garza went 1-4. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 88th hit of the season gave Westside a 2-1 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Cory.
The Road Warriors bumped their record to 52-38 with this latest triumph.
