|
The Lake Monsters had to overcome a good performance from Coney Island pitcher Mike Tyson to claim a 3-1 win at Coney Island Coliseum. Tyson went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Nick Allen got the win, improving to 5-5. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Dusty Mast earned his 25th save in 26 chances.
Melvin Cruz aided the Okanagan cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the right fielder was 2 for 5 with 2 singles.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Cruz told the Okanagan Daily News.
Okanagan now has a 3-game win streak.
