Frosties Get Close Win Over Pelicans
|
The Frosties had to overcome a fine performance from St. Petersburg pitcher Brad Leys to grab a 4-3 win at Billy Mathews Field. Leys allowed 1 earned run over 6.2 innings. Barrow reliever Francisco Palazuelos was the winner. His record is now 3-3. Kelly Livingston took the loss. Alex Rosario was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 20 save opportunities.
Barrow used the timely hitting of Gerardo Herrera to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Frosties on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Herrera told the Barrow Daily News.
The Frosties move to 44-48 with the win, while the Pelicans drop to 32-60.
