Gnats Get Close Win Over Bloodhounds
The Nichols Gnats defeated the Boise Bloodhounds, 6-1, at The Pond today. Leading the charge for Nichols was right fielder Ben Gleason. He was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win was Ben Bower's in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Chris Hart took the loss for Boise. The 4th-place Gnats improved to 37-50.

In a game filled with surprises, perhaps none was as big as Gleason's contribution. The Nichols right fielder is a relative newcomer. With one out in the bottom of the eighth, when the Gnats had the bases loaded, Gleason delivered a crucial 2-run single.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Gleason.
