Pelicans Deal Frosties Painful Loss
|
The St. Petersburg Pelicans bested the Barrow Frosties by a score of 5-4, with designated hitter Jerry Mays getting the main credit. On the day, Mays slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Pelicans. Reliever Adrian Bogle picked up the win. His record improves to 4-4. Tom Best took the loss. Their 32-59 record puts the Pelicans last in the Donnie Moore League Dusty Baker Division.
Mays had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 12th. On a 2-1 fastball from Tom Best, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Pelicans a 5-4 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Mays.
"This place was electric at the end," Mays said.
