Hornets Lose, 3-0, at The Nut House
|
Tree City got an elite performance from starting pitcher Juan Bojorques in taking a 3-0 decision over the Bethesda Hornets. Bojorques, the winner, moves to 6-2. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Sherwin Aberin converted his 3rd save in 3 tries.
Pete Leggett had a big run-scoring single for the Black Squirrels in the bottom of the second inning. With Tree City leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Jon Bender and stroked the single to left-center. It was his 29th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Black Squirrels ahead, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Tree City manager Ramón Guerrero said.
The 4th-place Black Squirrels now have a win-loss record of 46-42.
