Sting Lose, 7-3, at Prefontaine Park
|
The Houston Sting got a sterling performance from third baseman Dennis Fischbach, but the Emeralds still prevailed, 7-3. Fischbach was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Eugene reliever Ángel Velázquez was credited with the win, to go to 5-3. David Dillon took the loss for Houston. The Emeralds bumped their record to 44-43 with this latest triumph.
Eugene took a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, shortstop Jose Macias hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Macias. "And not try to do too much."
