Victory Pushes Sting Record to 46-40
|
The Houston Sting beat the Bethesda Hornets, 4-1, at Hornets Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Josh Hilbert, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Houston starter Daniel Avery was credited with the win after throwing 67 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 5-6. The Sting bumped their record to 46-40 with this latest triumph.
Hilbert had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the sixth inning, when he hit a 2-run double. The Sting went on to win.
"It was a good effort all around," said Hilbert.
