The Panthers faced a stiff challenge from Okanagan pitcher Barney Archer, but persevered to claim a win at Franklin Mountains Field. The final score was 5-3. Archer went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Charleston reliever Jack Dinner picked up the win to move to 1-0. Lai-hsiang Zhang suffered the loss. David Vince notched his 9th save in 9 chances.
The Panthers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Hung-k'uei Hsiao. For the game, Hsiao was 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 29th hit of the season gave Charleston a 5-3 lead.
Hsiao called the win "a collective effort."
