Gnats Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus New Orleans
|
Nichols Gnats starter Wilson Robles was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 6-2. Robles, now 8-7, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Suzunosuke Date was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 6 save opportunities.
Manny Angeles, who leads the LBL in triples with 5, aided the Nichols cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the second baseman went 2-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Robles told reporters after the game.
The 'W' lifts Nichols's record to 32-48.
