Black Squirrels Turn Back Houston, 5-3
|
The Tree City Black Squirrels defeated the Houston Sting, 5-3, in Donnie Moore League action at Woodland Park, with Tree City pitcher Sixto Árias named player of the game. Árias picked up the win for Tree City, going 6 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 6-4. The Black Squirrels bumped their record to 44-40 with this latest triumph.
Jay Liburdi, who is tied for 6th in the DML in hits with 80, helped out the Tree City cause in the top of the first inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the first baseman was 2 for 5 with a double.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Árias told reporters after the game.
