Panthers Subdue Chippewa, 4-2
|
Fans who gathered at Franklin Mountains Field saw a good contest between the Charleston Panthers and Chippewa River Chiefs.
The Charleston Panthers topped the Chippewa River Chiefs, 4-2, with youngster Hung-k'uei Hsiao playing a key role. Hsiao drew 4 walks, while scoring 2 runs for the Panthers in the win. Charleston reliever Tim Gresham picked up the win, upping his record to 9-2. Marvin Duffy was saddled with the loss. David Vince notched his 8th save in 8 chances.
In the bottom of the 6th, first baseman Charlie Knickle gave Charleston the lead when he hit a 2-run triple. The Panthers had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out triple off Chippewa pitcher Marvin Duffy changed that -- and Charleston went on to win.
"It was a good effort all around," said Knickle.
The Panthers now own a record of 35-46.
