Emeralds Fall Short at St. Paul
Despite a great performance by Eugene left fielder Vinnie Errichiello, the St. Paul Saints defeated the Emeralds by the score of 7-6 at Saints Ballpark. Errichiello went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Luis Carranza got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Konrad Dortmans notched his 5th save in 7 chances.

Had Brett Gardner not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gardner hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Saints.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said St. Paul manager Alonso Rosas.

The Saints' win now puts them at 40-42.
