Cyclones Stymie St. Petersburg, Take 5-0 Win

The Coney Island Cyclones picked up a win at Billy Mathews Field, knocking off the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 5-0. Starting pitcher Mike Tyson, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Troy Hampton converted his 3rd save in 3 tries. Today's win puts Coney Island at 43-33, while St. Petersburg falls to 26-53.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from right fielder Dan Bramer. For the game, Bramer was 1 for 2 with a walk. In the top of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 12th hit of the season gave Coney Island a 1-0 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Coney Island manager Roger Fievet. "It's usually not just one thing."
