Barrow left-hander Marco Cruz made an effective start against the Chippewa River Chiefs at The Blizzard Bowl, leading his team to a 6-4 win. Barrow reliever Jimmy Martin got the win, raising his record to 2-3. Anastasio Gómez was tagged with the loss. Alex Rosario was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 17 save opportunities.
Had Brian Douglas not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Douglas hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Frosties.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Cruz.
The Frosties, at 37-42, have now won 5 straight.
