Kinoshita Excels, But Gnats Win
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Kunihiko Kinoshita, the Okanagan Lake Monsters suffered a 8-7 loss to the Nichols Gnats. Kinoshita was 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Nichols reliever Ezra Bryan picked up the win to move to 1-0. Victor Castillo suffered the loss. Suzunosuke Date converted his 3rd save in 4 tries.

Nichols took a 8-7 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, third baseman Tsuneto Ezaki hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Nichols manager Bruce Joyner.

Nichols, at 30-42, occupies 4th place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division.
