Victory Pushes Black Squirrels Record to 39-37
|
The St. Petersburg Pelicans got a superb performance from pitcher Eddy Johnston, but the Tree City Black Squirrels still won the game, 7-3. Johnston was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Chris Hodges was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Zach Faulkner converted his 4th save in 6 tries.
Tom Comer hit a 2-run double off Adrian Bogle in the top of the sixth, which put the Black Squirrels in front, 4-2. In addition to the double, Comer had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Comer.
Tree City has 3 straight wins, St. Petersburg 3 straight losses.
