Moncayo Helps Winfield Cruise to 10-2 Win
The Winfield Warriors grabbed a 10-2 win over the Charleston Panthers at The Barn. Winfield catcher Victor Moncayo was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Winfield starter Jose Montalvo was credited with the win after throwing 115 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. In the bottom of the 6th, shortstop Félix Hernández gave Winfield the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Warriors had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out home run off Charleston pitcher Ryan Hamblin changed that -- and Winfield went on to win.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Moncayo told the Winfield Observer. "It's as simple as that."
