Marauders Score Late to Upend Blazers, 7-4
|
The Bloomington Blazers got a superb performance from designated hitter Camden Mansel, but the Maple Marauders still won the game, 7-4. Mansel was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Maple reliever Justin Rogers picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Paco Berroa was collared with the loss. The Marauders, at 34-21, lead by one game in their division.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the fifth, with the game tied, Motonobu Yamasaki was at the plate when Maple scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Marauders to go in front, 4-3.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Yamasaki, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
