The Eugene Emeralds did just enough to sneak past the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 3-2, at Prefontaine Park. Eugene pitcher Jung-sang Lee earned player of the game honors. Lee went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 11. His record improves to 4-2. Tatsuji Kudo notched his 7th save in 8 chances.

The Emeralds beat the Pelicans with some clutch hitting. The double by Pat Waxman in the bottom of the fifth is a good example. With two down, Waxman gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he came through with the big hit.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Waxman.

Eugene is now riding a 5-game win streak.
