Victory Pushes Lake Monsters Record to 34-32
|
Chippewa left fielder Franklin Baiza had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Baiza went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Okanagan beat the River Chiefs, 8-4. Baiza was named the player of the game despite the loss. The Lake Monsters bumped their record to 34-32 with this latest triumph.
Had Scott Hoffmann not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Hoffmann hit a 2-run double. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Lake Monsters.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Hoffmann said.
