Saints Raise Rally Flag, Beat Kingwood, 7-6
|
St. Paul designated hitter Jim Bruce played a vital role in his team's 7-6 triumph over Kingwood. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for St. Paul. Rick Kay picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Jalen Mitchelle was tagged with the loss. Ramon Romandia, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
Had Vinny Tarin not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Tarin hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Saints.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said St. Paul manager Alonso Rosas.
The 5th-place Knights have lost 7 consecutive games.
