Cyclones Throttle Lake Monsters, 9-1
|
Coney Island starter Francisco Valdez put a stranglehold on the Okanagan offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Cyclones to a 9-1 win. The winning pitcher was Valdez, now 2-2. He tossed 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 7. The Cyclones bumped their record to 36-27 with this latest triumph.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from center fielder Kenshiro Miyamoto. For the game, Miyamoto went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Coney Island a 3-0 lead.
"I really like what we did out there today," Valdez said after the game.
