Princes Throttle Hornets, 7-1
|
The first-place Bel Air Princes took on the Bethesda Hornets at Philip Banks Field.
Bel Air starter Miguel Serbin put a stranglehold on the Bethesda offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Princes to a 7-1 win. The winning pitcher was Serbin, now 3-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 10.
Wayne Steiert had a big run-scoring single for the Princes in the bottom of the second inning. With Bel Air leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Mike Marquez and stroked the single to right. It was his 51st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Princes ahead, 2-0.
"This team is real focused right now," said Bel Air manager Leland Austin.
The Princes, at 38-26, have now won 5 straight.
