Black Squirrels Get Past Eugene for 2-1 Win
|
The Tree City Black Squirrels got a stellar effort from pitcher Joel Applegate, helping Tree City score a 2-1 win over the visiting Eugene Emeralds. Tree City reliever Kyle Lanthier picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Cody Mason took the loss. The Black Squirrels bumped their record to 32-31 with this latest triumph.
Cole Capone, who is tied for 10th in the DML with a .876 OPS, aided the Tree City cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the pinch hitter was 1 for 1 with a double.
Capone said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
