Lake Monsters Get Close Win Over Cyclones
Okanagan and Coney Island duked it out at Coney Island Coliseum and the Lake Monsters came out victorious.

Coney Island pitcher Steve Rogers Jr. gave the Lake Monsters all they could handle, but in the end, Okanagan left Coney Island Coliseum with a 4-1 win. Rogers Jr. allowed 1 earned run on 5 hits over 7 innings. Reliever Ryan Merrill picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Dave Dyke took the loss. Dusty Mast converted his 14th save in 15 tries.

Had John Skelton not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Skelton hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 4-1, in favor of the Lake Monsters.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Skelton said after the game.

The Lake Monsters bumped their record to 31-29 with this latest triumph.
