Blizzard Need Extras to Top Pelicans
Taos and St. Petersburg took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

The Taos Blizzard had to overcome a big game from St. Petersburg third baseman Jerry Mays to leave Billy Mathews Field with a 7-5 victory. Mays went 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times. Taos reliever Dan Van Sickle was the winner. His record is now 4-0. Adrian Bogle took the loss.

Raul Reynaga had a nice at-bat for the Blizzard with one out in the top of the 14th. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, the catcher drew a walk, which would prove important in the Taos win.

In postgame remarks, Reynaga said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."

The Pelicans, at 21-39, have lost 7 in a row.
