St. Paul overcame a superlative game from Juan Lara to beat Chippewa, 3-2. The Chippewa pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Luis Carranza converted his 3rd save in 3 tries. The Saints bumped their record to 31-28 with this latest triumph.

The Saints got a big at-bat from designated hitter Alex Rodriguez. For the game, Rodriguez was 1 for 3 with a home run. In the top of the seventh, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave St. Paul a 3-2 lead.

"We take it day by day here," said Rodriguez, "and today was a good one for us."
